EC and EU consumer authorities ask Airbnb to comply with EU consumer rules

The European Commission and the network of EU consumer protection authorities (CPC Network) issued a letter requiring Airbnb to align its terms and conditions to EU consumer rules. Airbnb is asked to make changes in price transparency, which is deemed not in line with the Unfair Commercial Practices Directive. Prices should include all applicable mandatory fees, and private offers should be clearly distinguishable from the professional ones. T&Cs should also be brought in line with the Unfair Contract Terms Directive. Finally, Airbnb should provide an easily accessible link to an Online Dispute Resolution Platform (ODR). Airbnb should respond by the end of August with a plan for compliance.
